update 18 March 2020

Swim England have changed their advice to swim schools as below:

"Having further reviewed the guidance, it is Swim England’s interpretation that club activity falls into the ‘public gathering’ category and therefore it is strongly advising clubs to consider cancelling or postponing activity – including events – until the end of May."

Jane Nickerson, Swim England Chief Executive, recognised the worries from clubs and learn to swim providers but said a final decision on whether to call off sessions and events had to rest with them.

Given this advice, Let's Dive In will suspend all swimming lessons as soon as possible, whilst giving swimmers the opportunity to have one last swim and receive their certificates and/or badges to show their progress for the term.

Please refer to the email that will be sent today, Wednesday 18 March which will give more informatoin regarding the final sessions where swimmers can turn up to without booking at Newlands Girls School or The Holiday Inn Maidenhead.

All Let's Dive In activities will cease on Thursday 19 March and we will be in touch as soon as we are able to identify a date when it is considered safe to resume swimming sessions.

Thank you for your support.

Claire's Court Schools have closed their facilities to external lettings.

We are working on moving lessons to pools that are still accessible and continue to deliver sessions whilst schools remain open.

Please read the update below regarding extra measures that we are taking at this time.

update 17 March 2020

Updated guidelines for attending our sessions

Swim England have advised that clubs can continue their aquatic activities in accordance with the guidelines of the facility.

Please see updated guidelines for attending our sessions:

If a swimmer is from a family where a person they live with has been advised to self isolate due to illness then the swimmer cannot attend the session.

No spectators at sessions
A number of swim schools do not allow spectators as normal practice. We are very keen at LDI that parents/guardians see their swimmers progress and can support them in their swimmer pathway.

Unfortunately due to the Government advice regarding social distancing we ask that parents/guardians:

·         Supervise swimmers changing where necessary and ensure they have a shower.

·         Bring their swimmer on poolside to "hand over" to the teacher for their lesson.

Until further notice, parents and guardians are to:

·         Newlands: wait outside the pool building/in the car

·         Holiday Inn: watch from the balcony area

·         Claire's Court pools: watch from outside through the windows/in the car

Please make sure you are back on poolside 5 minutes before the end of the lesson to collect your swimmer.
We still ask that parents/guardians either take their shoes off at the entrance to the swimming pool (in reception at Newlands Pool) or wear shoe covers and are encouraged to wash their hands before entering the swimming pool area.

All swimmers will be asked to shower before going in the pool and our teachers will be enforcing this.

Our normal code of conduct for swimmers applies:

·         No swimming if you have had sickness or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours

·         No swimming if you have a heavy cold, temperature in the last 48 hours or have a cough, chest or skin infection.

Public Health England have stated that it is generally safe to go swimming at this time. Water and the chlorine within swimming pools will help to kill the virus.

Thank you for your help with this during this challenging time.

If you do have to self isolate with the family here are some ideas on how to keep active at home:
